Since 1995 Star Thoroughbreds has been based at Tulloch Lodge, the Randwick stables originally made world famous by the legendary trainer
T J (Tommy) Smith, and now the base of T J's daughter, HALL OF FAME trainer, Gai Waterhouse.
Situated close to Royal Randwick racecourse, Tulloch Lodge includes the wonderfully presented T J Room which records some of Tommy Smith's greatest achievements, throughout his remarkable career, spanning more than half a century.

Caitlin de Wit joined our Star family at the end of 2007 for a period of work experience, and at the beginning of 2008 she became a permanent member of our Star Thoroughbreds team.
In April this year Caitlin graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Equine Studies. At the time of her graduation Caitlin also received the Dean’s award for academic excellence; a truly wonderful achievement. Framed copies of the awards are displayed on our office walls, together with all our other winners. Caitlin's dream is to be a successful racehorse trainer but at present she excels at wheelchair basketball.
Each year many weeks before the top yearling sales, high quality youngsters are inspected by Gai and her team at the various stud farms, to identify the yearlings which have that special STAR quality.
Many of these yearlings are purchased by Star Thoroughbreds to offer in partnerships and to race in the famous purple and white stars colours.
