Doncaster Day at Randwick also saw the running of the Listed Keith Mackay Quality for 2 year old fillies. As Ron Dufficy commented in the Sunday Telegraph, "Driefontein has had a fantastic 2 year old preparation". Carrying 60.5 kgs, the filly led all the way, and was caught right on the post, to run second. She was tremendously gallant and Tommy Berry said "she is the bravest horse I've ridden... she wouldn't think she has been beaten." Drieftonein's 2 year old year and her remarkable success means that she goes for a very well earned spell as the second highest 2 year old earner in the land (after Pierro). Well done DRIEFONTEIN on a stellar performance.
