Some of the Sydney based owners of Russell Lea - a recently named yearling by Beautiful Crown (NZ) out of Pretty Special (NZ) - visited Gai's stables last Sunday 22nd April to toast the success of their new colt on the racetrack. As Trisha Sheehan, one of his doting co-owners, explained in the lovely email she sent us earlier this week, the colt absolutely loved the attention: "Russell Lea must be the most photographed horse that has yet to race with all the cameras clicking at once. He certainly does think he is "pretty special" and lapped up all the attention showered on him. After 15 mins, more commotion, photos and pats we reluctantly let him return to his stall followed by his fan club, who watched on a bit longer as he returned to his morning snack. Russell Lea's christening followed at the Doncaster where 6 of this owners toasted to his health and successful racing career." We were delighted to purchase Russell Lea at the Inglis Classic sale, and as the half brother to the talent Kontiki Park, he has a big brother to look up to. |
