Kinnersely recorded win number 5 and took his career earnings to more than $250,000 when winning the Listed $100,000 Lord Mayor's Cup over 2,000 metres at Rosehill on Saturday 12th May. He jumped on terms with the field, pushed forward to settle fourth, one off the fence, and travelled beautifully for stable jockey Tommy Berry. The 5 year old Al Maher gelding was taken very wide on the home turn, but ran on very strongly over the final 350 metres, proving too good for his opposition. "He was so strong", Tommy reported to the owners in attendance, "and simply outstayed them". It was Kinnersley's third win this preparation, and his first at Stakes level, having previously run 3rd in the Group 3 Tasmanian Derby. A top ride by Tommy Berry and a terrific effort by Gai to have him in top class order, together with a top notch performance by Kinnersley. Congratulations to the winning KINNERSLEY owners: Philip Evans, Susan Bourke, Michael Tran, Yvonne Zoszak, Henderson Racing Synd (Manager David Henderson), Kevin Clarke, Boeara Holdings (Manager Denise Dunphy), Les Polglase. |
