With his progeny on both sides of the Tasman notching up recent Stakes winners in Brambles (NZ) and Fromelles (NZ), Waikato Stud's exciting young stallion Savabeel is fast becoming one of the emerging sires in all of Australasia. The WS Cox Plate winner, and son of the legendary Zabeel, is now the sire to 140 individual winners and 17 stakes winners from four crops. Last weekend, Savabeel produced his promising 3 year old son Brambles (NZ) to score a tenacious win in the 2,000 metre Group 3 Rough Habit Plate at Doomben, whilst across the Tasman his daughter, Fromelles (NZ), proved a class above the rest in the 2,220 metre Group 3 Campbell Infrastructure Rotorua Cup. With Savabeel's progeny consistently performing well at Stakes level in both Australia and New Zealand, it was pleasing to be able to buy a quality Savabeel colt at the Inglis Easter yearlings sales. Out of the Rory Jester's mare, Midnight Rock, our colt is a full brother to My Emotion, a Group winner at both 2 and 3 years of age. He's a lovely strong individual, with a good pedigree, as his dam is a half sister to Group 1 Coolmore Classic winner Aloha. Interesting also that his dam, Midnight Rock, did not win a race... just like the dams of Black Caviar, Makybe Diva, Sebring, Weekend Hussler, Takeover Target and Ortensia. Our Savabeel colt certainly has a lot going for him.... so if you are interested in joining the group to race him, move fairly quickly, as only 30% (3 shares) are now available. |
