Both jockeys, Adam Hyeronimus and Tommy Berry, thought their Star Thoroughbreds' triallers were their best of the morning in today's barrier trials at Randwick. Two year old filly, Queenstown ( Stratum - Regal Heights (NZ) ) is one of the tallest two year old fillies we have ever had in the stables. She has taken a long time to fill out and for her to 'switch on' mentally, but she certainly did that in a major way in today's trial. The filly is bred to run over a middle distance, but she displayed an excellent 'turn of foot' in today's trials to win her heat in eye catching fashion. She will head to the races for the first time in about a fortnight. Lonhro two year old filly Naima made a big impression on Tommy Berry. Having her first barrier trial, Naima marginally jumped in the air as the barriers opened, but Tommy commented that she has a terrific 'turn of foot' and very much looks destined for good things. As Tommy is the regular rider of our two year old star Driefontein, he is certainly well equipped to identify a quality two year old filly, when he has the opportunity to ride one. Each of todays two trial fillies look destined for the winner's circle!! |
