ROXENBURGH brought his 'A' game to the races on Saturday at Kembla Grange. The New Zealand bred son of Pins had been quite slow to mature and develop. Gai was very keen to spell the gelding after his last preparation at the beginning of the year as she felt that ROXENBURGH was not yet ready to sustain a full racing preparation. This time in training, the four year old gelding was far more focused and strong enough to win two barrier trials and then lead all the way in his first race start back this time in work. Jockey Neil Paine said ROXENBURGH always felt like a winner and the 1,400 metres of Saturday's race was perfect for him. His owners have been most patient so Saturday's win was much deserved. Congratulations to the winning ROXENBURGH owners: Henderson Racing Syndicate (Manager: David Henderson), Allan Byrnes, Michael Townsend, Terrence Hodgson, Shahen Mekertichian, Margaret Butler, James Keane, John Leggett, Jeffrey Sheehan, Richard Smith. |
