|Four year old gelding FORTENSKY has been a model of consistency this preparation. He resumed with a win at Hawkesbury over 1,400 metres in early July and between then and yesterday's win at Canterbury Park, he has recorded four seconds and a third from as many starts. |
Wide barrier draws for FORTENSKY have been almost as frequent as his placings and yesterday was no different as the gelding again jumped from a wide gate. He was quickly away and a masterful ride by apprentice Lee Magorrian saw the pair take up the running for the 1,550 metres event in the back straight where the son of Love Conquers All remained throughout the race unchallenged. Although facing a fierce headwind, FORTENSKY was still travelling well in front and when Lee balanced the gelding in the home straight and asked him to let down FORTENSKY responded gamely and "kicked clear" to win comfortably on the line. If ever there was a case for a "deserved" win it was FORTENSKY winning yesterday at Canterbury.
Congratulations to the winning FORTENSKY owners Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, John Roe, Don Dong, Michael Harris, Renato Cavuoto, Justin Graham, David Wilson, John Leggett, Vincent Ip, Bruno Calabro, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood).
