APERITIF wins first up this preparation at Canterbury Park

APERITIF started her spring preparation off on a winning note with victory over 1,100 metres at Canterbury Park yesterday. The filly jumped sharply from her good barrier so jockey Jay Ford allowed APERITIF to go forward as she was racing keenly for the first part of the race. She loomed up to the leader at the point of the turn after initially becoming unbalanced, but once Jay was able to straighten her APERITIF let down nicely and in a determined fashion the filly fought on well to the post, winning by a narrow margin right on the line.
The 3 year old daughter of Bernardini (USA) was a Star yearling purchase at the 2017 Inglis Classic sale, which was also the source of our very talented Group 2 winner FIESTA and promising recent Stakes performer 3 year old colt DEALMAKER. APERITIF is the first foal of New Zealand Group 2 winner Pimms Time (NZ) and so she is cleverly named by her ownership group.
Congratulations to the winning APERITIF owners Jan Van Buynder, Mervyn Wood, Wayne John, Chris Olliver, Nick Vass Bloodstock (Manager: Nick Vass), Amy Vass, David Meldrum, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy).
