SEBRING wins the HTBR Champion First Season Sire Award 2013-05-16
Congratulations to the SEBRING family on the tremendous achievement by receiving the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Champion First Season Sire Award last night. He just "nudged out" Widden Stud's other high achieving first season sire, Northern Meteor.

GOLDCLIP toughs it out to win on debut 2013-05-09
Last June, we attended the Magic Millions National yearling sale with the aim of looking for a couple of quality fillies. For a variety of reasons, we couldn't quite find what we were hoping for, but after looking at most of the horses in the catalogue, Gai reported that there was a very nice Snippetson colt that Star should purchase. We did...he became GOLDCLIP...and a group of mostly new owners were thrilled to pieces today when he won well on debut at Wyong.

Star's SQUAMOSA will stand his first season at Eliza Park  2013-05-08
Star's SQUAMOSA will stand his first season at Eliza Park Stud in Victoria this year. He was a sprinter with an explosive turn of foot, who reached Group 1 level racing at his first preparation. He almost pulled off a remarkable victory in the Group 1 Golden Rose, only to be caught right on the line by multiple Group 1 winner, Toorak Toff.

NORTHERN METEOR draws level with SEBRING on 11 winners 2013-05-08
It's a red hot battle between Widden Stud's first season sires...SEBRING and NORTHERN METEOR. Sebring went one winner ahead yesterday, when Patricia Dawn saluted at Mornington, but not to be out of the lime light too long, Northern Meteor drew level this afternoon, when his eleventh winner Samameteors, won today at Sandown.

Inglis Syndication Open Day - A Big Success 2013-05-06
Congratulations to the team at William Inglis for presenting a terrific inaugural Syndication Open Day at their marvellous Newmarket complex. The day featured Jonathan D'Arcy from William Inglis and Caroline Searcy from TVN discussing the facets of syndication for first time owners. James Price from William Inglis managed the event in great fashion, so well done to the team for arranging a very entertaining afternoon.

A terrific week for Northern Meteor  2013-04-30
Northern Meteor has enjoyed a fantastic week and as of today, he is now equal leader with Sebring on the Leading First Season Sires in Australia By Winners table. His eight winner came when Bound For Earth won over 1,250 metres on debut at Canterbury last week. Then yesterday Starenzo won the 1,112 metres maiden at Kilmore by two and a half lengths, giving Northern Meteor his ninth winner.

Tommy Berry wins Group 1 QEII Cup at his first meeting in HK 2013-04-29
A remarkable beginning to his brief contract in Hong Kong, with our own superstar Tommy Berry winning the Group 1 QEII Cup at his first race meeting in Hong Kong. It is the first time he has ever travelled outside of Australia, so what a truly sensational achievement!............

Introducing the 3 UK Stayers bought at 2012 Tattersalls sale 2013-04-26
The 3 stayers bought at the 2012 Tattersalls sale were presented for owners today at Gai's stables. THE BARONET (by Sir Percy) will carry Star's colours. About 15 of our Star owners who are involved in the Stayer's Syndicate visited the stables for the afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the horses. Good luck for success with all 3, also including THE OFFER and SESENTUM.

SCARBOROUGH wins well first up at Gosford on Anzac Day 2013-04-26
Three year old Snitzel gelding SCARBOROUGH scored nicely yesterday when resuming over 1,200 metres at Gosford. Jockey Adam Hyeronimus elected to have the gelding on the pace, but wide throughout, to enable him to travel, in the better section of the track. SCARBOROUGH raced very wide at the turn, and although headed at the 150 metres mark, he found plenty under pressure and was particularly strong to the line, coming away from his rivals to win by half a length.

TEARDROP ROCK kicks up her heels at the Broodmare sale 2013-04-18
Stakes performed and metropolitan winning Fastnet Rock mare TEARDROP ROCK was offered this year at the Inglis Easter Broodmare sale and after spirited bidding she sold for $275,000 to Queensland purchaser Maneroo Pty Ltd, owners of outstanding racehorse Shoot Out. TEARDROP ROCK was initially sold by her Star Thoroughbred's owners at the 2012 Inglis June Broodmare sale. She was then purchased by Think Big Stud. She was served by So You Think (NZ) and this year when offered, she was certainly very much in foal! To say the least, she

EQUATOR makes it 2 from 2 and seems destined for big things 2013-04-11
Talented 2 year old Northern Meteor gelding EQUATOR made it 2 starts for 2 wins when he was the eye catching winner of the 1,250 metres No Metro Wins Handicap race yesterday at Canterbury. Nash Rawiller has spoken in glowing terms of the 2 year old for some time now, and the relative ease of his win suggests that EQUATOR has a particularly bright future.

One, Two, Three Star Winners At The Weekend 2013-04-09
A successful weekend for our Star owners with 3 year old gelding TAMARIZ, by Tiger Hill (IRE), winning on debut at Kembla Grange on Saturday, followed by METEORIC (by Fastnet Rock), also a 3 year old gelding, winning at his third race start at Wyong on Sunday. Completing the "trifecta" of winners was 3 year old filly SEDUCTIVE STAR, our Starcraft filly, who had won her maiden at Hawkesbury only 10 days prior.

WHITTINGTON set to jump from barrier 10 in the Slipper 2013-04-02
Talented Star Thoroughbred's colt WHITTINGTON, by Tale Of The Cat (USA), has barrier 10 for Saturday's Golden Slipper, but will probably jump from barrier 9 as it seems unlikely at present, that there will be any scratchings prior to the race..................

The WHITTINGTON owners count down to the 'Slipper 2013-03-28
All of the WHITTINGTON owners will be in Sydney next weekend to watch their colt compete in the 2013 Golden Slipper. Co-owner Jack Wilen has made the long trip from Finland for the day. WHITTINGTON heads into the Golden Slipper as the winner of the Breeder's Plate during the ATC Spring Carnival. The colt won the Lonhro Plate at Warwick Farm over three weeks ago and was runner up in the Canonbury Stakes in mid-February........

Easter arrives early for our Star owners... 2013-03-28
It was such a thrill to be one of the co-owners in today's winner at Hawkesbury, SEDUCTIVE STAR. I've only once before ventured into the ownership of one of our Star horses here in Sydney and so I can say first hand "you can't describe the thrill of the win" (Emma who manages our office so wonderfully well can attest to this).

And now on to the ATC Oaks...... 2013-03-22
Talented 3 year old Stratum filly QUEENSTOWN showed that she is a real ATC Oaks prospect with an excellent 3 lengths win at Warwick Farm yesterday over 1,400 metres. Jockey Nash Rawiller said "she was very strong to the line, her effort really impressed me today". We purchased the filly from the lovely Armidale Stud, near Launceston in Tasmania at the 2011 Magic Millions National yearling sale.

CITY OF LIGHT leads all the way to win again 2013-03-21
Four year old Fastnet Rock gelding CITY OF LIGHT led all the way to win yesterday at Newcastle on Newmarket day. Nash Rawiller guided the gelding to the lead after 150 metres and CITY OF LIGHT relished the opportunity to bowl along in front on his own terms. Into the straight under the urgings of Nash, the gelding extended nicely to win the 1,300 metres event by a length. Nash commented "it was a really good strong win - I liked the way he attacked the line." CITY

Star's "Big Afternoon Out" With Our Yearlings On Parade 2013-03-19
We couldn't have wished for a more perfect setting for our annual yearling parade on Sunday. William Inglis very generously allowed us the use of their wonderful Newmarket complex for the afternoon; it was glorious. A huge thank you to them for the use of their beautiful grounds.

The Stars "align" as EQUATOR wins on debut 2013-03-18
Northern Meteor is one of the most exciting young stallions in the country and on Saturday, his 2 year old son EQUATOR (Northern Meteor - Sun Maid) won over 1,000 metres on debut at Kembla Grange. The gelding was ridden by talented young jockey Adam Hyeronimus, who returned to race riding that day after a lengthy suspension.
